A Journey Into Harp Artistry Isabelle Perrin, harp
The summer of 1996 brought a most unusual sight to Tacoma, Washington.
One thousand harpists converged on the streets of this usually peaceful
Northwest city, as guests of the Sixth World Harp Congress. The
Northwest Sinfonietta and I were engaged to perform 15 concertos
with 15 of the world's finest soloists. Isabelle Perrin stood out
for her distinctive sound and musicianship. We have since become
great friends and have collaborated on many projects. This recording
is a tribute to her superb artistry and marvelous instrument.
This recording features live performances by the Northwest Sinfonietta
of Mozart's Symphonies No. 40 and 41 conducted by Christophe Chagnard
which took place at the Rialto Theater in Tacoma on November 22,
1996 and October 4, 1997 respectively for the Sonic Window label.
This release is particularly significant as it stands as the very
first professional recording to be produced at the Rialto Theater
in Tacoma.
These performances of Mozart's Symphonies have received critical
acclaim:
"The finest reading of the Symphony
No. 41 that this critic has ever experienced"
Cary Smith, The News Tribune
"The reading (No. 41) was handsome
and powerful"
R.M. Campbell, Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Mozart
Piano Concertos
No. 23 and 25
Mark Salman, pianist
Recorded at the Rialto Theater on June 20-22, 1998 for the Immortal
